Who am I?

My name is Joshua Bocanegra. I live in Kansas City with my wife Katrina where I have been involved in a few ministries over the last sixteen years. I am a writer and theologian. I love theology, art, poetry, literature and other things like pizza. Katrina and I both recently graduated our respective graduate programs, hers in counseling and mine in theology.

I am passionate about Christian engagement with culture and the ways Jesus has called his church to be a witness to his kingdom in the world. This is done, I believe, through an incarnational practice of the Christian life. The starting point for me is the Sermon on the Mount. I also believe allegiance to Jesus is paramount for anyone who calls themself a disciple, and all other disciplines, desires, or politics must be submitted to Jesus Christ and his teaching. There is a tension here between incarnational discipleship and allegiance to Jesus and his coming kingdom, but that tension is exactly the spot where I believe the church lives, and where I seek to contribute a meaningful and uplifting voice.
